No Professional Advice

The content on this site reflects the personal experience of the author riding, maintaining, and converting his own e-bikes. It is not certified mechanical instruction, electrical engineering advice, legal advice, or insurance guidance. Your bike’s and battery’s manuals are the final authority on operation, charging, and service — when this site and your manual disagree, follow the manual.

Traffic Law and Legal Classes

E-bike regulations differ sharply between jurisdictions. The EU pedelec frame (pedal assist to 25 km/h, 250W nominal) and the US Class 1/2/3 system are not interchangeable, and within each, helmet rules, age limits, insurance requirements, and trail access vary by country, state, and municipality. Nothing on this site is legal advice — verify and comply with your local regulations before riding. You are responsible for riding legally where you live.

Battery and Mechanical Safety

  • Batteries: Lithium e-bike packs store serious energy. Use the manufacturer-matched charger, charge on a non-flammable surface, store at moderate charge levels, and retire packs with physical damage. This site never publishes cell-level pack building, BMS bypassing, or charger modification — those are house-fire territory and off the menu.
  • Safety-critical components: Brakes at e-bike weight, axle and torque-arm hardware, and wheel builds under hub-motor torque are not learn-by-failure parts. Have your work checked by a qualified mechanic if you are unsure.
  • Conversions: Kit conversions described here reflect the author’s own build, at kit-and-bought-pack level. A converted bike must still comply with your local law — many kits can be configured beyond legal limits, and that configuration is your responsibility.

Results May Vary

Range depends on temperature, terrain, wind, rider weight, tire pressure, and assist level. The range figures on this site come from the author’s logged test loop in Swedish conditions and are presented with their method — they are planning numbers, not promises. Your numbers will differ.
